Joe Miller
Interim Director of Transitional Services, Pioneer Human Services
Joe Miller is currently the Director of Transition Services at Pioneer Human Services (PHS) in Seattle, WA. In this role, Joe is responsible for the development, management, operational success, and financial sustainability of all adult and youth Transition Services programs within Pioneer Human Services. Those programs include; the Federal Residential Reentry Centers (RRC’s), and the Hospital Reentry/Medical Respite programs from the Residential Reentry Services Division, the Family Intervention and Restorative Services (FIRS), the Parental and Adolescent Counseling Services (PACS), the Selma Carson Home, and the Snohomish Youth Residential Homes from the Youth and Young Adult Services Division. In addition, Joe works with the external customers of PHS, such as the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Washington State Department of Children Youth and Families, and city/county government agencies, to ensure that all PHS programs operate in accordance with applicable law regulations and contractual requirements. In addition, Joe collaborates with other area and organizational leaders and community partners to promote effective and supportive program climates that encourage the development of pro-social and independent living skills consistent with program goals that align with the mission and vision of PHS.
Joe has worked within the Reentry/Transition Services Division of Pioneer Human Service since April of 2003. During his time with Pioneer, Joe has been able to move successfully, within the organization, from an entry-level position of Resident Monitor (front line security) to his current role. ​Joe is thankful for Pioneer because the organization has provided him with a chance for change in his life professionally and personally while allowing him to fulfill his passion for working with individuals transitioning from prison back into their home community who need advocates in their life.
